Appeals procedure

For internal assessments (assessing Aquila Training Academy and Aquila Assessment Centre staff) and assessment of learners within client organisations.

1.   If the learner is not satisfied with the Assessor’s decision, this must be discussed with the Assessor in order to

work out a mutually satisfactory solution.

2.   If the learner is not satisfied with the result of step 1, he/she must complete the Appeal Form, stating reasons for the

appeal.  This form is forwarded to the Internal Moderator.

3.   The Internal Moderator will call a meeting or discussion with the learner and the Assessor within 5 working

days of receiving the Appeal Form.

4.    The Internal Moderator will moderate the assessment and decide on one of the following options;

o                     To uphold the assessment decision

o                  To re-assess the learner him/herself

o                     To request another assessor to assess the learner

o                     To ask the assessor to re-assess the learner whilst being present

The outcome will be recorded in writing and kept with the learner’s records.

5.   If the learner is not satisfied with the results in step 4, the learner can appeal to the SAPFTC/SASSETA ETQA
      for an E
xternal Moderator to re-assess the learner or for the Assessor to re-assess the learner with a
      representative
of the ETQA present.  This will depend on ETQA policies and procedures.

6.   Aquila Training Academy and/or Aquila Assessment Centre will assist the learner in their appeal to the

      relevant ETQA.
